Sura 23 – Ayat 1-3 Allah says…
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ فِى صَلَاتِهِمْ خَـٰشِعُونَ وَٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ عَنِ ٱللَّغْوِ مُعْرِضُونَ
“Successful indeed are the believers.Those who offer their Salat (prayers) with all solemnity and full submissiveness. And those who turn away from Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk, falsehood, and all that Allah has forbidden).”
In Sura 28 – Ayat 55 Allah says again about the believers….
وَإِذَا سَمِعُواْ ٱللَّغْوَ أَعْرَضُواْ عَنْهُ وَقَالُواْ لَنَآ أَعْمَـٰلُنَا وَلَكُمْ أَعْمَـٰلُكُمْ سَلَـٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ لَا نَبْتَغِى ٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَ
And when they hear Al-Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk), they withdraw from it and say: “To us our deeds, and to you your deeds. Peace be to you. We seek not the ignorant.”
ALLAH COMMANDS THE BELIEVERS IN THE FOLLOWING TWO VERSES NOT TO SIT OR STAY AT SUCH PLACES.
Sura 6 – Ayat 68 Allah says…
وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخُوضُونَ فِىٓ ءَايَـٰتِنَا فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَخُوضُواْ فِى حَدِيثٍ غَيْرِهِۦۚ
“And when you see those who engage in a false conversation about Our Verses (of the Quran) by mocking at them, stay away from them till they turn to another topic.”
Sura 4 – Ayat 140 Allah says…
وَقَدْ نَزَّلَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِى ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ أَنْ إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ ءَايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ يُكْفَرُ بِهَا وَيُسْتَهْزَأُ بِهَا فَلَا تَقْعُدُواْ مَعَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَخُوضُواْ فِى حَدِيثٍ غَيْرِهِۦٓۚ إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا مِّثْلُهُمْۗ
“And it has already been revealed to you in the Book (this Quran) that when you hear the Verses of Allah being denied and mocked at, then sit not with them, until they engage in a talk other than that; (but if you stayed with them) certainly in that case you would be like them.”
PREACHING (DAWA) IS ABOUT HELPING SOMEONE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HE OR SHE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND OR KNOW IN A BEAUTIFUL WAY. Sura 16 – Ayat 125
ٱدْعُ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَٱلْمَوْعِظَةِ ٱلْحَسَنَةِۖ وَجَـٰدِلْهُم بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُۚ
“Invite (mankind) to the Way of your Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching, and argue with them in a way that is better.”
IT IS NOT ABOUT ABUSING, INSULTING, MAKING MOCKERY OF ONE ANOTHER AND CALLING EACH OTHER NAMES.
IF THEY ABUSE, INSULT OR MAKE MOCKERY OF YOU, Sura 7 – Ayat 199 Allah commands saying…
خُذِ ٱلْعَفْوَ وَأْمُرْ بِٱلْعُرْفِ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ ٱلْجَـٰهِلِينَ
“Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant (i.e. the one who does not know).”
