Da’wah or calling others to Islam is a very noble endeavour and a necessary tool for education and guidance of the ummah. It is the best of deeds, because it involves guiding people to the Straight Path and to that which will bring them happiness in this world and in the Hereafter. Allah says in the Quran:
“And who is better in speech than he who [says: ‘My Lord is Allaah (believes in His Oneness),’ and then stands firm (acts upon His Order), and] invites (men) to Allaah’s (Islamic Monotheism), and does righteous deeds, and says: ‘I am one of the Muslims.’”[Surah Fussilat 41:33].
From the above passage, we learn that the people who engage in dawah have been praised by Allah and are also encouraged to be firm in their faith and do righteous good deeds. In fact dawah goes beyond just preaching, the moral conduct and lifestyle of the da’ee has proven to be more effective in guiding people to righteousness than mere talk.
A very disturbing trend in our Muslim community is the proliferation of da’ees whose characters and lifestyle are nothing to write home about. They are eloquent in speech, good in recalling the verses of Quran and quoting from the books of hadith but their personal behaviour does not reflect what they preach.
IMAM ABDUL SOMED OSMAN DABRE admonished this category of da’ees on “ISLAMIC HOUR” on MAM Online TV on Saturday, 13th July 2019, when he was treating the topic “ADOM AKY3DE3” hosted by YUUNUX MOHAMMED. Imam stressed on the need for daees to complement their good speeches with the best of character. He also advised Sheikhs and elders to guide such people in order for them not to go astray and ditch the noble path of dawah. Allah has blessed them with the talent(adom aky3de3) of eloquence so we should guide them to use it in the best way to do dawah without compromising their integrity.
